  • More answers

I beg of you to please answer more questions. Knitting banter is fine but there’s too much conversation about the dogs and other unrelated topics. I wouldn’t want to be a Patreon member if I could expect more of the same.

  • Host forbids you to listen if you are MAGA

I’ve listens to the podcast for years and enjoyed it. Through the years Staci has made comments that have lead me to believe our political views probably don’t align but who cares. This is knitting not the Oval Office. I respected her for her knitting knowledge not her political views. Sadly she recently made a post on Instagram so full of hate and intolerance and said she wants no one who supports MAGA or ICE to follow her or be a part of her community. So sad it’s come to this.

  • Republicans not welcome. Hate monger

She states on her Facebook page that she doesnt want republicans listening to her podcast nor any of her content. I’m very surprised that she’s such a hater. She keeps it low profile on patreon of course because thats where her money comes from.

  • Best Knitting Podcast Ever

I love the comfortable chat between Staci and Polly, and their knowledge of knitting is spot on. It’s such a wonderful addition to Staci’s amazing tutorials. I love to listen while I knit, or when walking the dogs.

  • Spews Hate

Really really sad to see how such a beloved knitting teacher can spew such HATE online. I used to be a paid subscriber, but that kind of vitriolic hate doesn’t serve any purpose. I’ll find my knitting videos elsewhere.

Podcast Episode 362 - Spring Sock Weather
Q: Hi Staci and Polly. I love all your videos and return to them... What do you do to keep your hands and nails camera ready in dry winter conditions?
Polly and Staci discuss moisturizing routines, cuticle care, clipping hangnails, and carrying hand creams during shoots; specific suggestions include a balm or solid lotion, cuticle scissors, and a tallow-based balm encountered at a fiber festival. The goal is to keep nails neat and snag-free during filming.
Podcast Episode 362 - Spring Sock Weather
Q: Dear Staci and Polly, I'm a long-time fan... patterns, especially the socks. I have a friend who's having a problem with the increases on a top-down raglan sweater. If a knitter were to miss a raglan increase on the increase row, could the increase be made on the next row of plain knitting? Would it be noticeable?
Yes, missing an increase can create a visible line in plain stockinette; it can be less noticeable with yarnovers but will draw attention unless the fabric or pattern hides it. The responder suggests fixing it or compensating later; in many cases the error becomes only noticeable if you look for it. If the fabric has other texture or color variation, it may be less obvious.
Podcast Episode 362 - Spring Sock Weather
Q: Hi, Staci and Polly. This is a totally random question that I've occasionally pondered since I took up knitting. Why don't we see 100% acrylic fingering or DK weight yarn with a low price point and ease of washing?
They do exist; there are acrylic fingering and DK weight options from brands like Hobby and Knitpix, and big box stores often label them as baby yarn when marketed for easy care. Availability varies by region and retailer, but affordable acrylic options are indeed on the market.
Podcast Episode 361 - Creepy Crawlies
Q: Would washing yarn before knitting affect gauge or length, especially for linen blends?
Yes, washing can cause linen blends to grow in length and affect gauge, so re-swatching is advisable to confirm the final measurements.
Podcast Episode 346 - Hitting the Gauge Target
Q: Hi Staci and Polly. My question is yet another about gauge. I'm knitting the Champagne Cardigan by Petite Knit, which is oversized with 11 inches of positive ease. What should I do given gauge issues with a 18 stitches per 4 inches target?
The hosts suggest that with heavy positive ease, you can be less strict about exact gauge, and consider blocking and yarn properties to relax fit. Blocking wool blends can adjust gauge, and in oversized designs, a slightly looser gauge can still work well. If fit is critical, switching needle sizes or careful swatching with blocking considerations is advised.
