  • I've learned so much about knitting from this podcast. Love that they keep it to about half an hour, and the interaction between the hosts (old and new) is like hanging out with fiber friends.

Podcast Episode 351 - Better Short-Row Decisions
Q: When doing short rows, why at each end do we do a double stitch or a wrap and turn? Why wouldn't we just knit back and forth to create the extra fabric?
We do this to avoid leaving holes in the fabric and to keep the fabric smooth without creating flaps.
Podcast Episode 351 - Better Short-Row Decisions
Q: What motivates people to do charitable knitting and what would help recruit more knitters for 'Knit Knockers'?
Reminders and easy access to materials, such as providing kits, may encourage more knitters to join the cause.
Podcast Episode 351 - Better Short-Row Decisions
Q: Should I weave in the ends before or after I block? Will it make a difference for how the ends blend in with the fabric?
Generally, it's better to weave in ends before blocking as the ends get blocked in too, making it easier for the fabric to blend seamlessly.
Podcast Episode 349 - Exercise Your Yarn
Q: Is it possible to stake complex knitted patterns?
There is no reason why not to stake non-color work cardigans, although it is commonly seen with color work for ease.
Podcast Episode 349 - Exercise Your Yarn
Q: What are some tips for storing wool yarn and completed knit projects?
Using sealed plastic bags is effective for preventing moths, and adding repellents like cedar can help but are not foolproof.
