  • Not bad

I am sure the content of this podcast is great, I just can’t get through an episode without falling asleep. Oration is certainly an art form not on display here

  • Review of UPenn Center for the Study of Contemporary China

I’ve been listening to the UPenn Center for the Study of Contemporary China podcast, hosted by Neysun Mahboubi, for nearly two years. I follow regularly over 20 different China-centered podcasts, and Mahboubi’s podcast is one of the absolutely very best. It’s really professional and comprehensive (and I also like long podcasts). I’m a China watcher and I find I learn something new every time. The recent episode: “China's Domestic Security Under Xi Jinping – Sheena Chestnut Greitens” is a case in... more

  • Wonderful conversations

I have no criticisms of the quality of the discussions. The host and guests are knowledgeable and informative. The release schedule, however, is a bit of a mystery to me. The latest episode was released over a year after it was recorded. There may be a valid reason for the delay, but in general a more timely release would improve the podcast significantly.

  • Brilliant

Neysun's introductions are beautifully narrated and gives you an overview of what you're about to hear - an underappreciated aspect of longform podcasts. The excellently chosen array of guests are allowed to speak at length on their respective topics leaving the listener wanting more after the hourmark. What a magnificent antidote to the US-China debate we're exposed to these days. Recommended.

Great show so far. The interview with Ryan Hass was among the best I’ve heard on this topic. Well worth subscribing to.
