The story of Ora Washington could have been fascinating had the producers not focussed on the angle they did. She was at the top of her game, and you could've told the story of a woman who overcame adversity and was a pioneer in her industry, but instead the story is that she wasn't rich or famous enough because everyone is racist and sexist. Could it be that women's tennis and basketball was fairly niche, and that people don't memorize each top player in every sport from decades past?
Ora Washington. I just started episode 4 but it's so tedious i will stop now. She clearly was an amazing sportswoman but listening to this podcast is like listening to a four hour well researched, factually impressive but yet really really boring presentation by a high schooler.
Amazing source material and other voices but the storytelling is just letting it down. Not sure it should be that many episodes. There is zero suspense or excitement that wants you to keep going. Disappointing :(
Thank you for this fantastic series. Informative and well told. My boys (12 and 9) and I listened on the way to school. There was silence in the car which means they were paying a lot of attention. Two thumbs from Kenya!
Loved it and well told. Always nice to find out about legends of yesteryear. These people path the way for future stars to grow into what they are today.
It was a great story very well told by Renee Montgomery! Would love to hear about more athletes like this.
