  • Love!

I have been a True Tales listener for a few of years now, certainly since we bought our 1820’s NH home. I love the interviews, personal stories from Stacy and Daniel, and the ghost stories,’of course. I will miss Daniel as a X”cohost but love that Stacy will continue to share her personal house journeys and bring on knowledgeable, interesting guests. If you have an old home or even just appreciate them, this show won’t disappoint!

  • Educational, Inspirational, and Fun for Old House Lovers

Stacy and Daniel do such great job in creating this happy place in the podcast world to deep dive into the Old House realm. I listen to gather info for a future when I might have the chance to work on my own old house (something older than my current 1960’s house), and the resources and personal advice they provide are impeccable. So thankful they create this resource!

  • True fan of True Tales

I love and have learned so much from True Tales from Old Houses! Stacy's shows are always well researched, organized, informative, and entertaining! I live in a new build and have limited DIY skills but have listened to every episode. Each show gives me a stronger appreciation for older homes and the stewards that care for them.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

187: Beyond Old Houses: Cemetery Preservation
Q: What drew you to cemetery and headstone care, and how did you get started?
Justin explains a personal journey from discovering family history to cleaning and preserving own ancestors' headstones, learning from classes, and eventually turning it into a side business aided by online communities and education.
185: Hot Rooms & Higher Standards
Q: How do I deal with a room that is too hot during the summer?
Start with simple, low-cost methods to reduce heat: shade the sun with curtains or blinds, block direct sun with reflectors or tarps if appropriate, and maximize airflow by opening windows to create cross-breezes when possible. If needed, progress to temporary or more permanent solutions like window films, heavier coverings, or exterior shading, and consider a well-miagnosed HVAC check with a few quotes before upgrading.
182: Deal-breakers & Old House Life
Q: What was your first fixer or project like, and what did you find?
Her first big project began with a dollar house in Danville that required extensive work; she learned through hands-on experience, brought in a restoration partner, and eventually moved into the house, launching a long series of related preservation efforts.
182: Deal-breakers & Old House Life
Q: How did Michelle first get into old house preservation?
Michelle describes turning a personal and family-driven interest into action after her sister's death, using photography of abandoned buildings as a catalyst, then launching a Facebook page that evolved into buying and restoring old houses.
176: Restoration in Real Time
Q: Did the public attention change how you made decisions or did it add pressure?
At first, it added pressure, but Jessica learned to navigate public opinions and set boundaries on what to share online.
