  • Excellent Podcast

Great new knife making podcast. These two guys sound very knowledgeable, with one as the experienced knife maker and the other as the new up an coming maker. Their voices are smooths and I even laughed a few times. The Echo Blades guy seems very down to earth and relatable. Very much looking forward to every new episode!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

E79: Sponsor Take Over - Derailed
Q: What's the hardest part about setting up the new shop?
The hardest part has been decision fatigue and balancing all the tasks at two locations while afraid of the financial risks involved.
E67: The dog's nuts
Q: Is it better to get a dual regulator or just get another tank?
It's probably better to get a dual regulator because it can be more efficient and reduce freeze ups with the tanks.
E61 - Heavy Gator Piss Max
Q: What do you think is better: grinding in the bevels or forging in the bevels?
It depends on a few factors. For layered constructions, it's a bad idea to forge the bevels as it increases the risk of messing up the core. For mono steel knives, forging in bevels can be beneficial, particularly for certain techniques like making a Bowie knife.
E58 - Blinded by acetone
Q: How do you store your knives before selling?
Most store finished knives on shelves in their offices to prevent scratches, while some prefer safes for unprocessed items.
E56 - Texas Ho's and Instagram Woes
Q: What feedback did you give during the Instagram interview?
I shared that the knife making community faces significant visibility issues on Instagram and expressed that the appeal process feels ineffective and opaque.
