This story has potential, but it is marred by poor writing and excessively heavy handed sound work.
The author suffers from being poorly educated. He makes incorrect word choices, mixes up parts of speech and occasionally even mixes tenses. Once in a while is excusable, but he makes these mistakes with enough frequency that I suggest a writing course.
His character development skills are also weak. With very few exceptions , his characters don’t evolve or grow in any significant way. The em... more
IF I HEAR ONE OF THESE GOD AWFUL MORE SCOTT SIGLER AD I AM GOING TO DENOUNCE YOUR NETWORK FOREVER.
Is that the author singing his own praises ? Does he KNOW how awful his voice, emphases, tone and bravado is?
Would give THIS podcast 5 stars, but my blood pressure from hearing these Scott Sigler ads is at its limit and I’m about to completely forsake your entire network for promoting his misogynistic garbage audio fiction. You’re so much better than that.
K BYE PLEASE DO BETTER
Such a fun storytelling device! And for such a not-having-any-fun story of the survival of mankind. It's different, so give it a moment, and you'll probably be as hooked as I was.
It gets better every season. Season 3 had me yelling into my AirPods. All these people are nutz, no way they did a psych exam on these people to see if they could endure a trip and live on mars. I can’t get enough.😂
I started listening to this show a few years back and did not expect to hear a new season after a long hiatus. I appreciated the maker created recaps to give me some refreshers. Honestly the show blew my mind - the scope, the cast and the storyline are all outstanding. Highly recommend!
A fantastic show full of fascinating little science details! I love the episode length and the lack of a long intro/credits, it makes it so easy to listen to a bunch of episodes at once and to dip in and out where time permits.
Really love the characters and the plot line. It’s very tense and the dangers of another feel real…I have no faith that any of these characters will survive the situation they are in but I’m hooked and along for the ride!
This is decently acted and sounding. But dialogue and story is juvenile and overly emotional. There is no way I can imagine these are scientists that are on Mars. Story elements one of the couples is arguing “you never loved me” and replying “c’mon get back in the rover”. My goodness the premise is ok but the story around it is absolutely not believable bordering on laughable.
Just marathoned all available episodes to date of this immersive, engrossing, harrowing, intense cinematic type audio drama. Extremely well written, produced, sound designed, acted and scored.
If you enjoy Sci-fi then this quality show is for you with its flawed, strong, opinionated characters and the dire situations they find themselves in, with dire consequences. Definitely recommend 💜
This story is great and keeps me engaged. I really appreciate that new episodes are coming out because the long breaks make it really hard to remember. That’s my only negative for this podcast.
Super, great, very technical, loved it! Will there be a season 4?
A great sci-fi podcast about the dangerous missions of the first people to land on Mars. The first season is a very dry technical story about the logistics of surviving on the harsh foreign world while out of contact from Earth. Season two picks up the pace with a more overt presence on survival stories, character-driven moments, and an unsettling amount of growing tensions within the crew. The third season follows up on the inner conflict of the group with a wonderfully constructed story of dr... more
Wow, superb voice acting and sound. totally immersive podcast. 3 seasons but keeps you hooked throughout with more to the original story line than I anticipated.
The story is interesting enough, the voice actors are mostly good (although a couple sound like they're reading off a script) and the soundscape is enjoyable. Overall well produced, but I definitely would have expected a content warning. I did not expect to be confronted with vivid reenactments of suicide and other distressing themes. With so many similar sounding character voices, it wasn't easy to follow the story, which also lacked a defined storyline.
Future listeners definitely need to be ... more
