3,000 miles of ocean separate Ireland from the USA, but both countries share a deep and intertwined history. Links between North America and Ireland predate Columbus, stretching back over 1,000 years. Since then, Irish people have shaped the history of the United States. Loved every episode, please keep up the good work. From a Fermanagh woman in the Netherlands ❤️
I am so thankful for both of your podcasts. You’ve answered my biggest questions surrounding my ancestors immigrating to the United States and finding themselves fighting in the civil war. Thank you for answering those questions and offering a view into the mindsets of Irish soldiers.
I’ve only recently discovered this show but find each episode becomes a new favorite! Damian and Fin—your enthusiasm and engaging friendly conversation bring living color to each topic.
Thank you for mentioning this podcast series in your IrishfestSummer School lectures. You bring Joy to learning!

Episodes center on under‑explored topics such as radical women in labor and suffrage, frontier trade networks, the GAA diaspora, Civil War participation, and the evolution of St. Patrick's Day in global contexts, often weaving place-based studies with memoirs and memory projects. A standout trait is the scholarly, accessible approach: guests range from university historians to public-facing researchers, producing rich historical narratives anchored in archival detail while remaining engaging for general audiences. This mix makes it appealing to list... more
