  • Figjam Sam

Sam’s arrogance in his footy opinions is unbearable. While both might be great news reporters, the A-Grade segment just reinforced that they should leave the analysis to others. The insight was lacking and criteria contradictory throughout to support his selections, and the smug delivery made it even worse. A tough listen.

  • Remove Sam

This could be great podcast if Sam wasn’t so smug. His smugness and arrogance about mid season draft, wanting floating fixtures shows no care. Not sure if it’s a facade or he’s deadset flog. Sounds like flog and looks like one too. Maybe Mitch could do the show alone.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Can Collingwood survive without Nick Daicos? | Just Quickly
Q: With the AFL changing the game to protect players' heads, why not just make players wear headgear like Tristan Sherry does?
The panel notes that while there is ongoing helmet testing and discussion, the current AFL stance is that head impacts involve more than just helmet protection; helmets in AFL don't prevent concussion and the league weighs safety data against gameplay purity and practicality, making a straightforward helmet mandate unlikely in the near term.
What does the future of Trade Period look like? | Just Quickly
Q: Considering how many contracted AFL players are seeking trades this offseason, do you think we'll eventually see the AFL clubs be given more power to trade contracted players without their permission?
The hosts discussed that while it's an interesting thought, they believe clubs trading players against their will will not become a reality soon due to PA regulations.
Mitch has a new theory on why players move clubs... | Just Quickly
Q: Why don't we see teams properly match a restricted free agent's deal?
Mitch and Sam discuss the historical context and the strategic decisions clubs make, suggesting that no team has become ruthless enough to match deals outright.
Mitch got information on a big story from WHERE? | Just Quickly
Q: Mitch, have you received any big tip-offs or trade news through DMs?
He mentioned that DMs are open for tips and he sometimes gets slid into, recalling a specific tip about Sam Mitchell's trade that he ignored.
Have we found Mitch's biggest pet peeve in the AFL? | Just Quickly
Q: What kind of notices does the AFL have to give certain clubs regarding changes to Father, Son, Academy rules?
Mitch agrees that the AFL should have communicated changes earlier, but highlights the current frustrations among list managers without clarity on these rules.
