  • Farewell, Tony

I was very happy yo subscribe to this podcast having been a fan of Tony’s since the ‘90s. I was so happy he was podcasting and thinking about the future. I’m absolutely gutted we lost him. The work I’m doing in the first quarter of this year, I dedicate to Tony Slattery. Farewell, Tony. You are loved.

  • I’d just finished all the episodes

I’ve been loving this podcast and I’m just trying to find a link to subscribe for the stuff I’ve not heard. It’s been a joy to find this pod. My favourite episodes were Julian Clary and the Hacker one. But the bit I found really touching was Tony saying he makes a point of telling Mark every day that he loves him. That melted me.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jenny Seagrove- "I Have Worked With Wolves!"
Q: What did playing Gertrude opposite Ian McKellen teach you about Shakespeare and age in performance?
The age difference can be worked through by belief and emotional truth; you have to suspend disbelief and trust the chemistry with your scene partner to sell the performance.
Phil Davis- "It's Always Him And Not Me"
Q: What initially drew you to acting, and was there a pivotal moment that confirmed this path?
A primary school reading moment when I read aloud with voices and surprised myself; the teacher and mother later confirming this was a turning point, followed by a stubborn drive to continue despite early discouragement.
Robin Askwith- "Is He Talking About Dwarves?"
Q: Did the fact that you got polio send you off in a different direction?
Yes, it gave me drive, but not at the time because I just had to try harder.
Simon McCoy- "The Look Of Just Sheer Bloody Horror"
Q: What do you think about the current political leaders?
It's beyond parody and understanding; we're living in a time of career politicians without conviction.
Simon McCoy- "The Look Of Just Sheer Bloody Horror"
Q: How did you manage to follow etiquette as a Royal Correspondent?
I didn't always manage it, especially when mishaps like the fire extinguisher incident happened.
