  • Love the podcast

Grayson does a great job interviewing guests with unique perspectives on the advancement of mobility. The episode with Peter Weiss on the intersection between autonomous vehicles and medical technology advancements was interesting. I enjoyed the discussion bout how much the current pandemic has advanced medical artificial intelligence. Great podcast.

  • All great interviews by Grayson Brulte but...

...the interview with Deepmap's Mark Wheeler stood out to me and is an awesome episode. I was aware of DeepMap, Inc. from a macro-view but Grayson Brulte's conversation with Mark Wheeler not only gives an in-depth picture of the company but Mark's journey from his Apple 2+ and all his experience along the way. Thank you both for a great one!

Keep them coming SAE & Grayson, really enjoying listening and learning!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

336. Coming Soon: The Humanoid Revolution
Q: When did Schaeffler first enter the humanoid industry, and how did the initiative evolve?
Schaeffler entered the humanoid space gradually, initially leveraging existing robotics and automation expertise, then dedicating a formal organization in the last 15 months to push humanoid development and scale, with ambitious goals on the supply side and a path from prototypes to large-scale deployment.
335. The Battery Isn't the Problem - Execution Is
Q: Why is software considered the 'soul' of the battery assets, and how does this change the economics for OEMs?
Because software enables predictive health, precise charging, and self-healing behaviors that hardware alone cannot achieve. This reduces warranty costs, preserves asset value, and lowers total cost of ownership, making EVs more affordable while maintaining performance and safety.
335. The Battery Isn't the Problem - Execution Is
Q: Can you walk us through, at a high level, how your software preserves battery life during fast charging?
The software acts as a smart traffic controller inside the battery, continuously monitoring thousands of sensor readings per second, comparing current data to historical patterns, and dynamically adjusting charging to avoid damaging aging processes. If needed, it can slow charging by seconds to protect longevity and only alerts the user or OEM when a catastrophic issue is imminent.
334. Turning Streetlights Into EV Chargers
Q: What are the most important factors when deciding where to deploy voltpost systems in a city (residential vs. high-traffic areas, use of GIS data, etc.)?
A practical approach is to target locations with clear demand such as multifamily residences and community hubs, guided by municipal input and data like heat overlays and GIS. Start with easily convertible poles and expand as demand justifies more installations.
334. Turning Streetlights Into EV Chargers
Q: When you're deploying in a municipality, do you have to go to city council for approval to modify the poles or is that done at the utility level?
Approval varies by city; some places have more empowered staff and faster approvals, while others require formal votes or longer processes. The key is engaging early, educating stakeholders, and demonstrating a successful pilot to build trust.
