  • A Christian podcast with a soul

Lee C. Camp’s pensive and calm delivery combined with theological lens give insight into how to pursue a more moral life. And the show can really provide a big picture lens that’s missing on topics, for example the show on AI was exploring it from angles moral, structural, and spiritual. It asked us about the choices we make in using technology but also how we define our own value when those traits that we once held as human are taken by machines. This is just one example of many fruitful conver... more

  • Maybe my favorite podcast

Lee’s neo-theological approach to all matters impacting our lives and our planets is unparalleled. But please get rid of the unabridged versions of the program. They are abridged for good reason.

This last episode on AI is more lit than the sun. It’s super helpful to hear Lee do what he does so well- mix experts with his own insight. I’ve always believed that the smartest people aren’t the ones who know the most, but can synthesize information and share it with others more clearly than most are capable. Lee’s economy of words here is the proof. Bravo. Excited for part two.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

262: Unabridged Interview: Linley Dixon
Q: What was it like for you in developing the courage necessary to take a stand and be vocal about these issues?
It involved overcoming self-doubt and the professional pressure to stay within the traditional, more cautious scientific stance; ultimately the alignment with a nonprofit allowed me to advocate openly and engage in activist science to push for real policy changes.
262: Unabridged Interview: Linley Dixon
Q: So let's turn to the Real Organic Project. And I understand that this arose out of perhaps a sense of institutional failure. Is that a fair enough way to put the origin of this movement?
Yes, it emerged after foundational organic farmers felt the USDA organic standard no longer truly reflected their practices or the market realities, leading to the creation of a distinct label that could uphold higher standards and protect the livelihoods of farmers and the integrity of organic in the marketplace.
The Subtext: The Pitt: What We Get Wrong About Addiction with Erin Calipari
Q: If you could educate everyone on policy or education around addiction, what would you say?
I'd emphasize informing parents and teenagers about brain development and the consequences of drug use during critical periods, rather than simply telling kids not to do drugs. Education should focus on how drugs affect the developing brain and the long-term organization of neural circuits to empower informed choices.
The Subtext: The Pitt: What We Get Wrong About Addiction with Erin Calipari
Q: Did you know about that GLP-1 stuff?
Yes, I've heard a bit about it, and it's intriguing because it may help with a range of compulsive behaviors and has potential implications for weight management and addiction. However, it's not a cure and should be considered as part of a broader treatment strategy.
260: Nicholas Ma: What to Do With the People You Love But Don’t Agree With
Q: What was the motivation behind Leap of Faith and the choice to follow pastors over a year?
To explore whether people with deep differences can belong to each other and remain in relationship, revealing humanity and the possibility of durable friendship across disagreements.
