  • Classic movie heaven

I’ve been a classic movie fan for a while, but trying to find good podcasts about classic movies has been difficult. This is one of the exceptions. I love how each host brings their own spin on these movies, and aren’t afraid to disagree on things (or sometimes have their ways of thinking swayed in another direction). The guests are always great, and I love hearing everything about how these movies were made and tidbits about the actors and directors. So glad I found this and I’m going back thro... more

215. Born Yesterday (1950 with Nell Minow) - Films of Resistance Series
Q: Can you tell people a little bit about the work you do and your connections to the political world?
I've been a movie critic pretty much all my life, going back to high school and online for more than 30 years and on the radio for more than 25 years. I grew up in a very political family, which shapes my intersection of film and politics.
#211: This is Spinal Tap (1984 with Alan Cerny)
Q: What's your experience watching Spinal Tap for the first time?
Kristen shares that she grew up on VH1's I Love the 80s and likely saw the film in her teenage years, appreciating its humor and realism about the music scene.
#209: Giant (1956, with Julie Gilbert)
Q: Was there anything from the original book that did not translate to the film?
Yes, in the book, the diner scene had only the three women without Bic, but in the film, Bic's presence changes the dynamics.
#209: Giant (1956, with Julie Gilbert)
Q: Julie, how did this book come together? What inspired you to want to look into Edna Ferber and her writing of this novel that became this great film?
I was raised to be a big fan of my great aunt, Edna Ferber, and learned a lot from her about discipline in writing.
#202: TCM Classic Film Festival Audio
Q: Do you come to the TCM Festival to see the movies that you already know and love in this environment on big screens?
