The first root guru who taught me significant teachings like Mahamudra and Dzogchen was Digo Khyentse Rinpoche. He was compassionate and focused on the students' welfare.

One thing I felt quite strongly was that I tried to be a tough Kampa boy, often getting into fights but later my understanding changed significantly due to my education.

Q: Can you share a little bit about where you're from, the place you grew up in, your households growing up, a little bit about your parents and your lineage growing up?
I was born in Tibet, in Cannes, in a place called Lingtan, which is a kingdom. My monastery is also Riguld. We left the area in 1957 and went to India after seeing the Dalai Lama.

Q: How did you go from having very few students to becoming one of the most influential teachers in Bhutan?
It all began in a remote village where I started teaching young students. Over time, word spread, and my efforts in teaching and leading Dharma practices grew significantly into a larger community.
