First four episodes present information in no logical order. Scattershot. Chronologically all over the place. Teasing a discussion of the religious extremists involved then backtracking again. There appears to be an interesting story here but it’s not well-told.
Melissa Doyle is meant to be an experienced journalist and she just constantly talks over the top of the other host and doesn’t even let her finish her sentences
Just tell the story in order. If you don’t already know this story, this is a difficult listen. It starts with a huge chunk of the story, then clips from too many random perspectives. Interviews from individuals that you don’t know how or where they play into the narrative, throw in even more confusion.

Tragic story, bad production values. Too much melodrama and self promotion on Ch 9’s behalf. I gave up after 20 minutes. Weren’t getting to the point.
So repetitive. Same info is given over and over each episode. Listeners aren’t stupid as to need a recap every few minutes. Makes hard going to persist to the end of series.

A hard-hitting true crime and current affairs series that examines a notorious outback ambush and the coronial inquest that followed, with a focus on investigative journalism, evidence presentation, and the interplay between media narration and police accountability. Episodes often center on procedural flaws, forensic details, and the human toll on families and first responders, while also exploring the broader impact of conspiracy theories and extremism on public safety. Notable strengths include in-depth reporting, access to new evidence, and empathetic storytelling from victims' families, though pacing and production quality are frequently cited as challenges by critics and listeners alike.
