From the creators of Let’s Make a Sci-Fi and This Sounds Serious comes The Town Show – where comedians Mark Chavez and Ryan Beil set out to build a fictional town. Each week, a guest comedian helps pitch new residents, landmarks, history, and events that shape the town. Together, they craft a world from scratch, one episode at a time. If you were inspired by Harriet the Spy to start a notebook of fictional people’s lives or spent your summer playing The Sims, then The Town Show is for you! I love hearing about each guest’s hometown and how that informs the landmarks, lore, or characters they create for Town. The improv is hilarious and the hosts (and producer!) are great!
I stumbled on the Town Show as I needed a break from political podcasts and shows that wanted to teach me something, and I’m so glad I did. It’s our FAVORITE podcast ever. The lore they build and the characters they create become like friends - and so do the amazing hosts! I’m wondering if we’ll ever see a book happen as for the News from Lake Wobegon… 👀
Some of Canada’s best improvisers get to go deep and film incredibly funny scenes with friends in this premised(?) improv comedy podcast. The listener involvement in lore-building is so fun and unique
Just a couple silly boys and revered guests working on a beautiful project of the mind. Or as I say, ‘Stand back, I’m about to use my imagination. This could get dangerous.’
