  • Lack Of Due Diligence

Listened to the episode on immigrants and aid workers. A large part of the episodes involves the people condemning the harsh rhetoric around immigrants, but the sound clip they use is out of context. They claim President Trump called immigrants “animals”. If you listen to the full clip you will hear he is talking about MS13 gang members who are known for their brutality.

Up to the issue of 12 October, I had no difficulty downloading this. Since then, podcast has not downloaded nor have I been able to get it from the swissinfo.ch website either to play or download. On iTunes, the download seems to start, but amount downloaded never goes above zero. Have emailed swissinfo without reply yet. Please fix it! I don't know whether to give it 5 stars on the basis that it is always a really interesting summary of the week or zero because I can't receive it. I'll split on... more

Building a Swiss FabLab: the future of Switzerland’s semiconductor strategy
Q: So Switzerland wants to ramp up the research and the production of semiconductors. What's the story here, Matt?
Matt explains Switzerland's plan to create a FabLab to combine research and production, leveraging ETH Zurich and SwissMEM, aiming for a niche, high-end segment rather than mass production, and highlights the need for funding and a clear strategy.
Climate solution series: how Bangladesh adapts to erosion, floods, and rising seas
Q: Is there government support for climate-displaced people in the areas you studied, and how effective is it?
The government has cyclone shelters and relocation programs like Ashrayan, but in some regions genuine permanent relocation support is lacking, and people rely heavily on social networks to restart their lives when shelters are unavailable.
Climate solution series: how Bangladesh adapts to erosion, floods, and rising seas
Q: Hi Giannis, could you tell us what you found out while you were out in Bangladesh?
We found that many people who lost land and houses stayed within the village and moved only a few hundred meters inland over multiple seasons, instead of relocating to distant cities or abroad, due to financial constraints and attachment to community.
Climate Solutions Series: What Antarctic Ice Reveals About CO2 And Climate Shifts?
Q: What do you expect to find in this sample?
Rather low CO2 concentrations, likely not an interglacial, around 220 to 230 ppm.
Climate Solutions Series: What Antarctic Ice Reveals About CO2 And Climate Shifts?
Q: Why it's important to extract and to study the ice from Antarctica?
To understand the natural conditions of our planet and to provide context for current greenhouse gas levels.
