  • Practical AI advice for bookkeepers

Michael brings on guests who understand how real bookkeeping workflows work. The Tommy Vincent episode on Hub Analytics was a good example. No hype, just applications that make sense.

  • Excellent podcast that I look forward to weekly

Michael does such a great job interviewing the guests. The most rent episode “tips to get your business back on track” was the realest interview I’ve heard from someone that has had a successful business and ran into struggles. I was just so grateful that this episode came out because I really related in some ways. She’s had a rough year and she was willing to share her story. As soon as I started my business - there were so many obstacles and I kinda thought it was just me struggling to mak... more

  • Great podcast even if you’re not a bookkeeper

I'm not a bookkeeper but I am a business owner. However, bookkeepers are one of the professions we serve so I enjoy learning more about the industry. I found so much of the content applicable to any small business. I enjoy the variety of topics and guests.

EP531: Natalia Zacharin - Zero Experience, Millions Earned: From Clerk To Inc. 5000 Firm Owner
Q: How did you win your first clients and decide who to reach out to on LinkedIn?
She describes targeting smaller business owners with active profiles, avoiding large enterprises, and prioritizing conversations over sales pitches. The approach involved genuine curiosity and adjusting messaging based on feedback until she found what worked.
EP531: Natalia Zacharin - Zero Experience, Millions Earned: From Clerk To Inc. 5000 Firm Owner
Q: What was the timeline from leaving your job to getting traction in your business?
Natalia explains she started in late 2018/early 2019 as a side project, slowly gaining traction through LinkedIn outreach and a local women's business group, which eventually led to enough cash flow by November 2019 to quit her job and focus full-time. She emphasizes persistence and iterative testing of channels.
EP528: Teresa Slack - From $18/Hour To Million-Dollar Firm: The Pricing Shift
Q: What fears or beliefs did you have around pricing your services when you started?
We started at $18 per hour, which wasn't sustainable; we later learned through value pricing that fixed monthly packages could be more profitable, and we needed to reassess our beliefs about what clients would pay.
EP525: David Homan - Why Networking Feels Broken & What Actually Works - Part 1
Q: Let me know a little bit about you and how you ended up doing what you're doing today.
David explains his evolution from nonprofit arts administration to leadership in a global arts charity and how relationship-building and trust shaped his path, culminating in his approach to transforming networks into purposeful communities.
EP524: Gina Cotner – The Simple Accountability System That Gets Work Done
Q: How do you move someone like Alison from “I'm doing this for you” to owning the outcome as if it were their own project?
Start by declaring that the project is theirs, then ask what they need from you, and keep quiet to allow them to respond; require specific resources and access, and guide them to define the support they require.
