Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

125 Fueling Better Performance with Mike Hummel and 1PRCT Labs
Q: Can you talk about what specific moment made you realize that this was a real business opportunity and not just an observation you had while coaching?
It was a collision of two trajectories: my endurance coaching background and my experience in tech startups, combined with seeing a gap on the pool deck and with club sports where players had no structured fueling; a product delivery method (gummies) emerged as a viable solution, validated by observing athletes and conversations with parents and coaches, and then turning that insight into a business plan and product development.
127 Kylee Renouf on The Marketing Strategy Behind Signature Athletics
Q: Where do you see the U Sports industry heading and Signature Athletics' role in that progression?
The industry is fragmented, and the brands that will win are those that create connected ecosystems, supporting the entire life cycle of the customer and coordinating across program directors, coaches, parents, and players to reduce fragmentation and increase accessibility.
127 Kylee Renouf on The Marketing Strategy Behind Signature Athletics
Q: What advice would you give to anybody that's operating in the sports industry from a marketing perspective?
The key guidance is to not be afraid to fail and to fail fast, then continuously iterate. We test a lot of marketing initiatives, learn what works, and refine quickly rather than sticking to a plan that doesn't deliver.
129 Han Park: From a $1B Esports Exit to Building Payment Labs
Q: What is the best way for teams to learn about Payment Labs and get in touch?
Direct teams to the Payment Labs website for case studies and a contact form, and encourage reaching out via LinkedIn for a personal introduction.
123 Christian Henze on Growing the Premier Lacrosse League
Q: What makes PLL different from legacy leagues when it comes to fan engagement and innovation?
PLL balances traditional distribution, including ABC and ESPN exposure, with heavy emphasis on first-party data, in-house product development, and a player-centric model—most notably equity for players—which helps drive deeper fan loyalty and community.
