This is a MUST podcast to follow for all silent film fans, as well as anyone who is interested in old Hollywood, and interested in history. I fancy myself fairly well informed about old Hollywood & especially the silent screen era. However, I learn something new with each podcast to which I listen. Highly recommend this podcast!
Been enjoying since stumbling upon this a month ago. Superb for learning about silent films, actors, directors, and other classic film creatives. Highly recommended!
I’ve always enjoyed silent films, but recently began watching more of them and researching them. It’s a fascinating era, and I was so happy to find this podcast. Everything is well researched and I’m learning about new movies and actors that I’ve never heard of. I would definitely recommend this podcast to anyone who is interested in silent films or even film history in general.
I appreciate how a-political this podcast is- I wait eagerly for my favorite silent films to be discussed but until then I found myself on pins & needles listening to unusual films that I had heard of but never saw like The Dragon Painter. But hearing the episode discussing The Phantom Carriage, I am now a solid fan! Great opinions!
Stewart Lee’s enthusiasm for silent films and classic films is palpable. Having just researched the silent film era for a book about bank robber turned matinee idol Henry Starr, I really enjoyed his interview with Samantha Glasser from the Columbus Moving Picture Show convention. I can’t wait to hear more fascinating history about the silent era with Stewart.
