  • Fantastic podcast

Jeff’s podcast has been a phenomenal resource for me as a new reefer. His top 10 lists have served as great starting points for me with making stocking decisions in my first reef tank. Some of my favorite episodes have been the ones where he interviews a fellow reefer to do deeper dives into topics like culturing phytoplankton, breeding fish, and the Triton method. Would love to see more like this in the future. Make sure you go check out what he’s doing at his local fish store: Corals Unlimited... more

  • Thanks Jeff! A behind the scenes look at the hobby for this beginner

I’m new to the saltwater hobby. I’m currently cycling my Waterbox Reef 220.6! Life made me take a break from aquariums for several years (former keeper of African cichlids). Jeff and his podcast/YouTube channel have been great at providing me with the good, the bad and the ugly of reef keeping. I’ve gained a lot of great nuggets from Jeff.

I appreciate how he isn’t afraid to share insight gained from past mistakes. He wants to help new reefers have as smooth of a process into the hobby and navi... more

  • BEST REEF PODCAST

Very entertaining “self-banter” (if that’s a word) and educational without making the beginning reefers feel stupid. I’ve even re-listened to a few episodes to revisit some topics. Owner doesn’t claim to know everything which is much more welcoming to new hobbyists

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Saltwater Aquarium Radio Podcast 301: DO NOT Buy a USED Reef Tank Like This…
Q: How did the floor support under your aquarium work for you long term?
It worked well, with no sagging issues for the two to three years the tank was up, but it's a temporary fix and not a permanent solution.
Saltwater Aquarium Radio Podcast 276: Top 10 Corals for those Hard to Light Areas
Q: Is there something that I can add to help keep them in check?
You can add a sand-sifting starfish which helps reduce the number of spaghetti worms, but be cautious as it might not be suitable for long-term in a smaller tank.
Saltwater Aquarium Radio Podcast 279: 40 Gallon Reef Tanks and the Fish That Love Them
Q: How do I get started with dosing?
Start by testing your alkalinity and calcium regularly; when it doesn't make sense just to do water changes anymore, consider dosing to maintain levels.
Saltwater Aquarium Radio Podcast 275: How to Add Saltwater Fish to a Nano Reef Tank
Q: If I have to wait until I am further along in the hobby, will I be able to successfully enter after I may have more aggressive fish?
Yes, if introduced properly, more aggressive fish can coexist with a Mandarin if they are initially established when the tank is set up.
Saltwater Aquarium Radio Podcast 275: How to Add Saltwater Fish to a Nano Reef Tank
Q: Will captive-bred dragonets do okay since I can feed them prepared foods?
Yes, captive-bred dragonets eat frozen food and can thrive in a well-maintained tank.
