  • Great guests!

This is a fantastic podcast with great info about being a metal musician, and gear, and technique. Doesn’t get much better.

I do wish Acle would let his guests do more talking though, and talk a bit less about himself. I’m here for the guest.

  • Great for any player

I’m a fairly casual player at this stage in life, but the Riffhard Podcast keeps me inspired to play and improve or just listen to some of my favorite players discuss the craft. Eyal asks great questions. It’s awesome to have an interviewer with so much knowledge about the music industry and creative process.

  • Great insight from the pro’s in the game

Absolutely love the content from this podcast. It’s awesome to hear about how these artists go about practice, writing music, etc. Wish this was around 20 years ago. It’s definitely helped the way I approach my playing. Just Awesome!!

  • Good stuff but…

Great show all around. Wish the host would chill out on saying he knows everything. Every time a guest makes a statement, it is usually followed by the host telling them how he knows that already. I mean….maybe he actually knows it all. 🤷‍♂️

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

RIVERS OF NIHIL (Andy Thomas)| EP 186
Q: How do you handle the challenges of live performance and vocal harmonies?
I practice upstrokes and vocal harmonies separately, but during live performances, my guitar playing must not be in my mind while I focus on hitting the right vocal notes.
RIVERS OF NIHIL (Andy Thomas)| EP 186
Q: How do you make sure that you're doing justice to Brody's riffs?
You have to work on Rivers of Nihil's music specifically, focusing entirely on their songs to get in the right mindset and develop the necessary skills for their unique style.
PALEFACE SWISS (Yannick Lehmann) | EP 183
Q: Are you taking an MP3 and putting it next to another MP3 and listening to them back to back, or are you listening to them and then you make a new version of Riff B?
They usually listen to it and then make a new version of the riff that could fit, leaving the original riff separate if it doesn't fit.
PALEFACE SWISS (Yannick Lehmann) | EP 183
Q: How does it work for you and your band? Is this something where you guys get in a room or you come in with songs?
Yannick collects riffs individually and programs simple drums to vibe it up, then they meet with the vocalist to work on demos together.
IMPELLITTERI (Chris Impellitteri) | EP 180
Q: What's the primary reason for the success of your band, Impellitteri?
Going back to composition. If you can't write a good song, something that moves or touches your audience, then you just have basically 30 seconds of showing off.
