  • Such a hopeful, helpful podcast!

As someone trying to figure out my own health and as a holistic physical therapist, I have found an immense wealth of knowledge here. Thank you for helping me to fill in some essential gaps in understanding how our bodies work best. I really like how in the recent episodes, Meredith plays a short bit of the interview before the intro so listeners can decide if it is one they are wanting to hear at that time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

182: Light Is Nutrition: What a Quantum Dietitian Wants You to Know
Q: Why do you emphasize coherence over just counting calories or focusing on macronutrients?
Coherence reflects how well the body's energy and information are synchronized across systems, meaning mitochondria, hormones, and signaling align to respond efficiently. When coherence is high, dietary inputs and supplements have less impact if the foundational systems are out of sync, whereas building coherence through light, sleep, and outdoor activity creates a more reliable baseline for health.
182: Light Is Nutrition: What a Quantum Dietitian Wants You to Know
Q: Walk us through how light and environment can affect glucose metabolism after a meal.
Light exposure, especially outdoor daylight and red/infrared light, can modulate insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake, sometimes reducing post-meal glucose by noticeable margins. This effect complements physical activity, which can bypass insulin for glucose entry into cells, and emphasizes that environment around mealtime can change metabolic outcomes as much as, if not more than, the meal itself.
181: Your Brain Runs on Light: A PhD Neuroscientist on Near-Infrared Therapy and Cognitive Health
Q: What is Neuronic and how does near-infrared light work for cognitive health?
Neuronic is a near-infrared light helmet designed to stimulate the brain to support cognitive health, with protocols for alertness and rest. Near-infrared light penetrates deeper, improves mitochondrial function, blood flow, and can reduce neuroinflammation, with real-world anecdotes of improved recall and reduced brain fog.
181: Your Brain Runs on Light: A PhD Neuroscientist on Near-Infrared Therapy and Cognitive Health
Q: Can you summarize your background and how you moved from academia to industry?
Ramona describes a path from neuroscience research on traumatic brain injury and inflammation to working with energy-based, non-invasive modalities in the biotech/medtech space, aiming to translate academic findings into practical tools that support brain health.
177: Psychomancy, Geomancy and Vital Energy: An Engineer's Journey Past the Edge of Conventional Science | Ralf Otterpohl
Q: How does one transition from civil engineering to telepathic communication with marine life and other esoteric practices?
The guest explains a developmental path involving long walks, meditation, and studying geomancy, which opened his awareness to sensing energies and eventually led to telepathic experiences, framed as expanding scientific inquiry rather than abandoning rigor.
