  • A game changing informative open discussion in P&O

I found this podcast series really encouraging me to keep on continuing to improve my digital skills, to really make a difference to improve lives for the patients I see. I have recommended this to anyone interested in 3D printing as a way to hear other clinicians make that leap. Keep up the good work!

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How Hands-On O&P Education Builds Clinicians with Arlene Gillis
Q: What kind of profile are your incoming students, and what backgrounds do they come from?
The program draws a mix of students from kinesiology, biology, and exercise science, with many entering after completing a bachelor's in related fields; the age distribution has shifted toward younger students since the master's standard was adopted.
What It Really Takes To Scale 3D Printing Across Multiple Clinics with Maurice Johnson
Q: How do you balance central fabrication with local production to optimize cost and turnaround?
A mix approach is discussed: central fab for cost efficiencies on definitive sockets and local or near-site printing to reduce delivery times, with a focus on maintaining consistent quality across offices and reducing total lead time.
What It Really Takes To Scale 3D Printing Across Multiple Clinics with Maurice Johnson
Q: What is the biggest challenge in moving from manual fabrication to a digital, print-based system?
Fragmentation of software and hardware across scanning, modification, and printing, plus ensuring a system that is easy enough for clinicians to use without juggling multiple tools.
What It Really Takes To Scale 3D Printing Across Multiple Clinics with Maurice Johnson
Q: Why did Floyd Brace start looking at 3D printing beyond orthotics, and what were the initial drivers?
The drive was to find a duplicatable system for prosthetic fabrication that clinicians could rely on, reduce labor, and centralize or streamline the workflow without sacrificing patient outcomes or clinician engagement.
Why Global Thinking Matters in Orthotics and Prosthetics with Hugh Sheridan
Q: So tell us how you got involved with the OMP.
I've been involved in the OMP industry since I was 10 years old, starting with a family business that evolved from a shoe repair company into a major supplier of orthotics materials and capital equipment, expanding across Europe, Australia, UAE, and beyond.
