American Democracy is not promised to us and, with all the forces working against it, saving it will take a level of work most people aren’t ready for. The Politics Girl Podcast is here to give people a reason to care and a reason to fight. Our goal is to inspire. To instill in people a true understanding of what this country COULD be, if the right people were fighting for it, and what it WILL be ... more

  • Abandon faith

I’m constantly amazed that so much of humanity is unable to see that faith is the problem. Faith is belief without evidence. People so often say that others of their own faith just aren’t doing it right and never realize that there is no right way to believe in things that have no verifiable evidence to support them. Once you are able to believe by faith alone then any insane belief is possible right along side the physics of reality.

  • Hope peddler

I do like this pod and do listen, but it’s still we just need to win elections to stop maga. We had a trifecta after trump 1 and not a thing was done. Supremes added no, major ethics overhauls no, and manchin and sinema killed the rest. I used to donate thousands for the dems and now not a penny ever!

  • Turning politics off is a Privilege.

I love Leigh so much. I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t know if I can take the news anymore, I’m anxious and sad and angry so often. But I know it’s a privilege to be able to “turn the politics off” and some don’t have that choice, so here I am. Leigh is able to explain current events in a way that doesn’t suck my soul out while still being very firm on WHERE WE ARE AT CURRENTLY IS WRONG and I’m not being gaslit into oblivion. I’ll be a listener forever, thanks Leigh.

  • Brings hope in dark times

Leigh’s podcast, book, and “kitchen rants” have taught me more about US politics than anything I learned in school. Leigh has a wonderful way of explaining current events, and the workings of the government with a passion and motivation that is, in my opinion, unmatched. She can articulate things in a very palatable way, and sprinkles in my favorite four letter word at the perfect moments, which I appreciate so much!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

These People are Going to Kill US: With Dr. Anahita Dua
Q: What should people remember as they move into this election year regarding health care?
Health care is a personal issue; people should vote for leaders who understand the system, prioritize patient care, and appoint experts rather than career politicians, because the health of the population depends on informed, science-based decisions.
Why No Kings Matters: With Indivisible’s Ezra Levin
Q: How should listeners engage after No Kings 3?
Recruit three new people, bring them to No Kings, and keep expanding local organizing hubs to maintain momentum and create a sustained movement rather than a one-off event.
Why No Kings Matters: With Indivisible’s Ezra Levin
Q: What should newcomers understand about No Kings?
No Kings isn't just for 'protest types'; it's a welcoming entry point into a broader movement where ordinary people join together to defend democracy and build a long-term organizing muscle.
Why No Kings Matters: With Indivisible’s Ezra Levin
Q: Why is turnout for No Kings important beyond a single event?
Turnout matters because large numbers show the country that democracy is alive, provide protection against authoritarian moves, and create a network of communities that can sustain resistance and push for longer-term political change.
ICE out for GOOD: A Conversation with the ACLU
Q: What do we do if our government no longer respects those rights?
We need to remain disciplined, peaceful, and actively participate in protests while also understanding our rights under the law.
