  • RIP to one of the few Star Trek podcasts worth a listen

Discovery and Voyager have killed another podcast which is a shame but the coverage of Trek on this podcast is worth the listen! The hosts have some really well thought out points of view on the franchise and even when i don't agree they are at least understandable thoughts and entertaining ones. It will be sad to no longer see this pop up in feed each week but I thank Wes and Clay for putting out great material for all of these years.

  • Why?

Why is this podcast rated “clean” when profanity abounds? Just wondering.

  • Middling

The main host, Wes, seems to have become pretty negative on Star Trek as a whole. The co-host, Clay, frequently goes off on tangents about other shows to the point of distraction. He also can’t remember most of the episodes that he has watched, and usually doesn’t remember parts of the episode under discussion that week. Both use profanity seemingly just for the sake of it. Some of the analysis is good and well thought out but you have to wave through the other stuff to get to it.

  • Modern explicit drab

I wanted this. I wanted to listen to two normal guys talk about Star Trek. I’ve watched them all (except Picard), the content may work but for me the explicatives are an immediate turn off.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Next Generation
Q: What did you think about Captain Shaw as a character?
I really liked him. He is an antagonist, but his antagonism is based in the fact that he's just doing his job, which I liked.
The Next Generation
Q: So how do you feel about getting back into Star Trek Picard?
I feel like the show understands how a lot of people will feel about it, and boy do they go out of their way to make sure they know this is a different show.
The Bounty
Q: What did you think of The Bounty?
It's a weird episode because it only really moves things forward very incrementally, but the increment that it moves is kind of important, and the rest of it's just filled out.
