I have enjoyed listening to commentary by first time readers of one of my very favorite book series. They have an interesting outlook and perspective that is different than my own which I appreciate. However, there has been a large and overdrawn focus on negative portions of the books throughout the episodes. Genuinely think you should do Mistborn next. The first book is brilliant and a great intro to Brando and the Cosmere. In terms of using magic systems creatively and working within set rules to explore the limits of what magic users can do Brandon is the master. I think you will really enjoy that aspect of his writing.
