I’ve never listened to a podcast before. I never knew where to start. I was looking for a podcast that was a modern take on ascetic practices focusing on both psychoanalytic and spiritual insights. Wow. This is the perfect podcast. And the witty banter between the host and her co host is playful and smart. These too know what they are talking about and they talk about it an accessible way.
I look forward to listening to each episode. The intertwining of monastic wisdom, psychoanalysis and theology has given me new insights about myself and relationships with God and others. Plus the fun banter keeps it always fresh!
It's me - I would generally not opt in to a conversation about acetic life. But the intertwining of monastic thought with psychoanalytic thought drew me in, and the moments of laughter and connection between the hosts kept me there. Highly recommend.
I’ve struggled with what to write for a review, but today as I wrapped up the 5th episode, I found how much I love the final thought from the desert monks. I love that it’s a surprise to Taylor who gets to unpack it in real time and that it helps tie the thoughts of the podcast together. For me, it’s a beautiful benediction that helps me keep thinking about all I’ve heard, learned and been challenged by throughout the podcast. Take time and listen, it’s worth it.
I’ve really enjoyed this podcast so far!
