  • Eye opening & transformative

This podcast has been so helpful and transformative both through my first pregnancy and my work as a labor and delivery nurse. Clara speaks about labor and birth in a way that makes me excited and not afraid to deliver my baby. I would love to hire her as my doula or work bedside her. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. Birth is not an emergency; it is a natural, beautiful experience that doesn’t have to be dictated by doctors and science. Keep spreading your light!

  • One of the Greats

Clara was my doula and guided me to a smooth birth after a complicated pregnancy. Listening to her podcast, even now that my baby is here, makes me feel like she is my life doula. I learn so much that still applies to my postpartum body and my parenting journey. If you reject the stereotypes that pregnancy and birth can either be crunchy OR science-based, give this a listen.

96: Is Sex Safe During Pregnancy? Answers, Tips & What No One Tells You
Q: What should I do if sex is painful or uncomfortable during pregnancy?
Communicate with your partner and healthcare provider, consider using lubrication, experimenting with different positions, and addressing pelvic floor tension or medical concerns as needed.
96: Is Sex Safe During Pregnancy? Answers, Tips & What No One Tells You
Q: Can sex during pregnancy cause miscarriage?
In most uncomplicated pregnancies, the answer is no. Sex of various forms is generally safe, though certain medical conditions may lead a provider to advise caution.
106: Prepared for Whatever Comes: Letting Go of the “Perfect Birth” — with Bec Conant
Q: How have all of these experiences shaped your understanding of the journey through pregnancy and birth?
Birth is inherently uncertain; there is no single right way, and preparation helps you respond to whatever arises with flexibility and calm, rather than clinging to an ideal outcome.
107: Informed Choice in Newborn Care: Vitamin K, Eye Ointment, Hepatitis B, and More — with Dr. Joel Gator Warsh
Q: How should families approach Hepatitis B vaccination for newborns?
Families should consider the extremely low risk of perinatal transmission versus the public health benefits of vaccination; an informed discussion with the clinician about risks, testing accuracy, and personal exposure is essential, and delaying or declining is an option some parents choose after weighing their specific risk factors.
107: Informed Choice in Newborn Care: Vitamin K, Eye Ointment, Hepatitis B, and More — with Dr. Joel Gator Warsh
Q: Why is erythromycin eye ointment routinely given, and what are its limitations?
The ointment is primarily to prevent serious eye infections from sexually transmitted pathogens like chlamydia or gonorrhea transmitted during birth, not to prevent all eye infections; it can cause temporary irritation and may be less necessary in low-risk populations where screening reduces exposure.
