  • Exceptional conversations

I found Lee‘s podcast only this week and found myself listening to one and another one and another episode. Especially Ana from Colombia touched my coffee soul very deep and awoke my wish to build a sustainable business that supports coffee farmers again.

  • One of (if not The Best) coffee podcasts out there

In my opinion, it touches subjects and issues that are not in the eye of the coffee Industry. It raises questions that we must ask ourselves and not other coffee professionals. It helps you create your own critical opinion. And helps you understand how every link in the chain it’s important and how to prepare for upcoming global events.

I hope that we have been able to take care of our planet and that we are not at the brink.
EP 1473 Marianella Baez Jost - Not a Short Term Coffee Crisis - The Daily Coffee Pro Podcast by Map It Forward with Lee Safar
Q: How do you look at the geopolitics specifically with regards to tariffs?
It is very disruptive for smallholder farmers, particularly with increasing tariffs affecting their ability to budget and plan.
EP 1473 Marianella Baez Jost - Not a Short Term Coffee Crisis - The Daily Coffee Pro Podcast by Map It Forward with Lee Safar
Q: Do you think we're in a short-term crisis?
No, this is a long-term crisis that won't go back to normal due to supply depletion on both sides of the industry.
EP 1471 Marianella Baez Jost - Coffee Farming In Costa Rica in 2025 - The Daily Coffee Pro Podcast by Map It Forward with Lee Safar
Q: How does a producer see a circus like a barista competition?
I value baristas very much, but I think they are being used as a circus, doing extravagant shows that promote large company sales instead of addressing serious issues in the coffee market.
EP 1471 Marianella Baez Jost - Coffee Farming In Costa Rica in 2025 - The Daily Coffee Pro Podcast by Map It Forward with Lee Safar
Q: So how are you experiencing 2025 as farmers?
It's a seller's market, and we finally see pricing go up, which gives us hope. We want to ensure that prices never drop below $4 again despite the market volatility.
