Is It Time We Talked About Turning Off Your Ads? (And Yes, You Read That Right)
Q: What is iROAS and why should brands care about incremental returns rather than just ROAS?
iROAS measures the incremental revenue generated by each advertising dollar, distinguishing what would not have happened without the ad spend, whereas ROAS is a correlation-based metric tied to clicks or views and may misstate true impact. (Line around 1547320 / 1560000)
Is It Time We Talked About Turning Off Your Ads? (And Yes, You Read That Right)
Q: If I have 100 ads across multiple platforms, what is the strategy of attack to begin testing incrementality?
Begin with a channel-level holdout (e.g., turn off Meta in a geographic region), observe the lagged revenue effects over 20-45 days, then move to Google, then to other channels, and finally test tactics and campaigns within each channel; repeat cycles to keep holdouts current due to causal decay. (Line around 1757800 / 1766742)
Is It Time We Talked About Turning Off Your Ads? (And Yes, You Read That Right)
Q: Where do we start, Brendan? Lead us through the process of where we start to think differently about this.
Start with channel-level holdouts to establish incremental baselines, then drill into individual tactics and campaigns, and finally use holdouts together with MMM to calibrate and forecast, while recognizing that macro factors shift results over time. (Line around 555060 / 5651200-5651200)
The 90-Minute Massage That Cost Him Half a Million
Q: What is your best advice for someone who's listening to the show and wants to do lead magnets?
Get extremely narrow about the single product or use case first, define your ideal customer, map their journey, and then craft a lead magnet that directly solves the most pressing problem they have, followed by a highly personalized, scalable follow-up sequence that gradually builds trust and moves them toward a purchase.
How AI Is Quietly Killing Your eCommerce App Stack
Q: What practical steps should a brand take to start leveraging AI in their eCommerce stack without breaking the bank?
Begin with a clear problem you want AI to solve, pilot small, model outcomes with internal prompts or affordable tools, then scale enablement efforts and invest in customer‑facing relationships rather than chasing every shiny object
