Move from concept to lived experience with Jesus' love, practice gentle self-observation without condemnation, and engage in information gathering to guide next steps, including longer-term faith-based practices like healing prayer.
Episode 98: The Danger of Idolizing Thinness in Christian Circles with Kassandra Baker
Q: How can listeners recognize the idol of thinness in their own lives in practical terms?
By observing time, energy, money, and thoughts devoted to body image, examining whether extreme behaviors are used to achieve a certain size, and evaluating whether identity is rooted in how one looks rather than Christ's perspective.
Episode 98: The Danger of Idolizing Thinness in Christian Circles with Kassandra Baker
Q: What initially awakened you to the idea that thinness could be an idol in church culture?
The guest describes a long history with dieting and body image, followed by a traumatic brain injury that revealed how dependent she had become on orthorexic behaviors; this shift exposed thinness as an idol rather than a health goal.
