In this "Ask Me Anything" session - recorded LIVE - we talk about Jewish funerals, how to buy your first set of tefillin, Kabbalah books for beginners, and more. Plus I share my favorite Hebrew song and my two favorite arguments in the whole Talmud.
In this live studio recording, Jewcurious people ask questions they have about Passover, including what to do if you hate horseradish, the difference between round matzah and square matzah, and whether Christians should should have seders.
Metzora - this week's Torah portion - starts with a bizarre ritual for changing someones ritual status, using two birds, some water, hyssop, cedar, and a red thread. Given the oddity of some commandments, why might we want to do them anyway?
In last Monday's AMA (Ask Me Anything) we discussed keeping kosher, the Jewish view of cremation, Christian use of Jewish ritual items, and much more. Recorded with a live audience.

Hi! I’m a conversation student and am dyslexic (which I will say is a challenge! So many books!) and I was lucky enough to come across this podcast pretty early in my journey (about a year and a half ago) and I’m now listening again and am getting a whole new layer of knowledge out of it now that I have more of a foundation.. thank you so much for making this information and your own experience so accessible!
Learning about another religion doesn’t have to be boring and this podcast proves it! This podcast isn’t about trying to convert people, it’s about education, and that’s amazing in itself.
By far my favorite podcast. I am not Jewish and looking to convert. This has been one of the best resources to learn and get to understand the Jewish culture. If I lived in LA I would definitely visit you in person John. Although I live in New York, I am grateful for social media for allowing me to learn with John. I am not quite comfortable going in to the Synagogue’s in my area. However, this outlet gives me the opportunity to be involved and learn virtually. My only wish is for John to get ba... more
Great podcast I am a 12 year old boy who loves to learn about Judaism and I plan to convert some day. This is a fantastic way to learn about Judaism especially if you are like me who can’t go anywhere to learn about Judaism or if they have a synagogue like me witch is a 3 hour drive away or if you don’t have any friends or family who don’t know much about Judaism
Rabbi Carrier is a great resource and I love listening to his insight on all things Jewish. This podcast is a wealth of knowledge and yet super accessible for those who are just starting out or just starting to be curious. He’s definitely one of my favorite resources and has been an indispensable resource in my conversion process.
