  • Great content; sound not so much

I love the content of this podcast; the interviews are excellent and informative. That is when I can hear them. I realize that insuring decent sound requires some effort but a little more attention in that direction would be helpful. The sound for the interviewer is consistently much louder than for the person being interviewed. And often the person being interviewed isn’t speaking clearly enough to overcome that difference. So this renders the podcast virtually unlistenable in a car or anywhere... more

  • I’m a COVID Long Hauler, and I appreciate this show.

Thank you for your recent episode on Long COVID.

I can only speak from my own experience, but my second vaccine helped reduce my COVID Long Haul by 80%. Further improvement with a low histamine diet.

Again, speaking from my own experience I have benefited from things I’ve learned through functional medicine, this show included, paired with the COVID vaccine.

  • So disappointed

Why can’t you deal with the elephant in the room that the cause of suppressed immune system is from the Covid vaccine!??

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Supporting Patients in the Era of GLP-1 Medications Monique Class, MS, APRN-BC
Q: How can clinicians bridge off GLP-1s while maintaining weight loss?
Clinicians should titrate down gradually, replace the pharmacology with reinforced habits, leverage self-efficacy, and introduce supporting tools like satiety-focused botanicals or dietary timing to prevent rebound weight and sustain behavior change.
Supporting Patients in the Era of GLP-1 Medications Monique Class, MS, APRN-BC
Q: What has been your experience with patients and the GLP-1s?
GLP-1s can dramatically aid weight loss and inflammation reduction, but the dose must be tailored to the individual; they work best as a bridge that offers a window for sustainable lifestyle change rather than a shortcut, and risks like sarcopenia and gut transit should be managed with precise dosing and movement strategies.
Nutrition, Menopause, and Women’s Health at Midlife and Beyond with Annina Burns, PhD, RDN, FMCP
Q: What are the main nutritional changes during perimenopause and menopause that clinicians should address?
Nutrient needs shift due to changes in metabolism, muscle mass, and hormonal decline. Weight may redistribute to the abdomen, gut microbiome diversity can change, and there is a need for more nutrient-dense foods with attention to protein, fiber, calcium, vitamin D, and micronutrients to support bone and metabolic health. Early intervention and a personalized plan can mitigate weight gain and chronic disease risk.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation: Modulating the Parasympathetic Response
Q: How do we identify the people who really have dysfunction?
Look for patients responsive to vagus nerve stimulation, particularly those with multiple disorders that track back to the vagus.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation: Modulating the Parasympathetic Response
Q: Can you describe how you got involved in vagus nerve research?
I started many years ago at Johns Hopkins looking at how electricity can help control pain, leading to an interest in the vagus nerve.
