  • Excellent weekly information

I look forward to this podcast weekly. One of the only HR podcasts that release info so consistently. Great topics, thought provoking and current with all legislative changes. Also short enough to listen in one sitting. Always recommend to other HR colleagues.

Ep 258 - Is Manchester Utd a Toxic Workplace?
Q: And Mary, I'm curious, what are your thoughts on the impact that leaders' behaviors and what they say can have on the culture of any organization?
Managerial comments about teams being the worst can lead to a lack of motivation and a toxic culture, making it difficult to have high-performance environments.
Ep 258 - Is Manchester Utd a Toxic Workplace?
Q: So Joe, to pick up on Mary's point there around the impact that leadership can have on employees in any organization. Look, bringing it back to the sort of unique setting of a football club. Do you think that, like, why is Manchester United performing particularly badly? And can a soccer club exist in an environment that follows good workplace culture that creates psychological safety, or is it just a world in and to of itself?
It's always going to be a world unto itself, but toxic behavior is often not visible until symptoms appear, like high turnover and poor employer brand.
Ep 258 - Is Manchester Utd a Toxic Workplace?
Q: Joe, bringing these two worlds together based on what Mary outlined there, she gave a lot of key indicators there of a toxic workplace, such as complaints, low performance, right? Do you see, looking into Manchester United and its recent history here, do you see it as a toxic workplace? Is that fair? Is it accurate?
I mean, it does seem that they could be considered to be a toxic workplace given the recent history and the symptoms of toxicity we've discussed.
Wellness Works Ep3: Embedding Wellbeing through Champions
Q: What does a good well-being champion network look like?
It features engaged champions who actively support initiatives, collaborate across the network, and contribute significantly to the organizational culture of well-being.
Wellness Works Ep3: Embedding Wellbeing through Champions
Q: What characteristics should organizations look for when selecting well-being champions?
Organizations should look for genuine interest, voluntary participation, a mix of roles and levels, and credibility among peers when selecting champions.
