He was very present and loved my kids unconditionally, sharing stories and experiences from his life, being a source of love and pride.

My dad grew up during a tough time, losing his father's job during the Depression but went on to excel academically, even achieving number one in the nation on the MCAT.

Q: What kind of memories did you have of your grandfathers? Did you know both of them?
I had two grandfathers and I knew them very well. I taught one of my grandpas how to golf when he was 70, and I have many fond memories, including him shooting par on the course.

Q: What advice would you have as a grandparent for your kids who are kind of entering into that, you know, the grandparenting sort of thing?
Make sure you have an outside entrance for your children or grandchildren to stay if they need to, which will provide a great experience for bonding with them.
