  • Rehashes of true crime tv shows

If I had to hear Dateline or 20/20 referenced one more time I was going to “accidentally” break my phone. As I watch a LOT of true crime docs on streaming, these pod episodes are monotonous narratives of what I’ve already seen in living color, without the interrogation scenes and courtroom drama. I’d recommend Sword & Scale if you can tolerate the smarmy host. Onward I go…

  • The sodder children

I appreciate the level views you give on all your episodes. In this case there seems to be too much suspicious behaviour and facts. The phone line cut …planted bones, planted liver etc. Miranda, good on you to try to figure it out. Any deathbed confessions to look into?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Three Cases With Vinnie Politan - 683
Q: What makes the six-year-old case particularly challenging from a legal standpoint?
The core issue is mens rea and true intent; a child at six lacks the capacity to form criminal intent, making it crucial to distinguish between criminal liability and civil or protective actions.
The Sodder Children pt 1 - 676
Q: What role did Miranda play in shaping the narrative presented in this episode?
Miranda supplied documents, corrected misinformation, and provided context that helped veer the discussion toward a more nuanced understanding of the case and its sources.
The Sodder Children pt 1 - 676
Q: What is your initial assessment of the Sodder case and the official conclusions?
The hosts express skepticism toward the official conclusion of an accidental fire, citing inconsistencies like the missing children, suspicious insurance activities, and various eyewitness reports that suggest arson or kidnapping rather than a simple house fire.
The Sleepwalking Killer - 662
Q: How did Kenneth's relationship with his family affect the trial?
Kenneth's previous good relationship with Dennis Woods, his father-in-law, played a significant role in the trial, as Dennis testified that there was no animosity between them, potentially influencing the jury's perception.
The Sleepwalking Killer - 662
Q: What was the central argument used in Kenneth Parks' defense during the trial?
The defense argued that Kenneth was experiencing non-insane automatism due to sleepwalking, meaning his body committed the acts, but his conscious mind was not engaged.
