  • Long time listener

This is one of the best Union podcasts, and also a great source for MLS and soccer news in general. Wish Todd accepted donations to help support his great work.

  • Excellent Union podcast

Only been listening to podcasts since late winter, and this was the first Union pod I started with. I do love the info & insight Todd gives & overall love the show. My only issue, and maybe it’s just me, is the constant little “exasperated sighs” (best as I can describe them). It’s pretty off-putting & kind of annoying. This most recent episode, there were 2 back to back. Gotta take it easy on those.

Other than that, great pod, great content, keep up the great work.

  • So glad I found this podcast!

I’ve been listening to Todd’s podcast since the last few games of the 2021 regular season and have been loving it. I was listening to 2-3 other Union related podcasts which are ok, but not the level of Todd’s podcast. Once i came across The Free Kick podcast, it’s the only one that I anticipate new episodes.

Todd not only talks about the Union from a fan’s point of view but gives you more of a perspective as to how the Union individual players, coaches, team and front office fit within the MLS a... more

  • Solid, but repetitive

Love the enthusiasm and the dedication to the Union. Clearly a well informed podcast. However, he says “Philadelphia Union” way too much that it drives me crazy.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 407 - Needing Three Points in Columbus (feat. Chris Doran)
Q: What has stood out most about Columbus under Henrik Rydström compared to Wilfried Nagy?
The team now plays with more aggressive overload dynamics, faster ball progression through the midfield, and a willingness for full-backs to get forward with cover, which has helped create overloads and more crossing opportunities, while still emphasizing a solid back line and tighter defending in possession.
Episode 388 - Kai Wagner Reflects on His Time in Philadelphia
Q: What do you think was needed to get over the line in 2022?
We missed our captain, Alejandro Bedoya, in the final, which was a significant loss.
Episode 388 - Kai Wagner Reflects on His Time in Philadelphia
Q: How was the MLS Is Back Tournament experience for you?
The tournament was crazy, but it turned out to be a good time for my family as I got to spend time with my newborn during the COVID isolation.
Episode 388 - Kai Wagner Reflects on His Time in Philadelphia
Q: When did you first hear about the interest from the Union, and did you know much about MLS prior to the move?
I didn't know a lot about MLS, but the move to Philadelphia became easy after I met Ernst Tanner.
Episode 342 - Penalties, Non Penalty, Flying Hotdogs And A Red Card
Q: Is this loss concerning for the Union considering their past home performances?
No, it was bound to happen, and it could serve as a wake-up call for the team.
