If you enjoyed the two ‘thicko’ characters on Alas Smith & Jones, this is for you! What could have been a great idea ruined by 2 idiots who can’t be bothered to research history. Dan the ‘extra,’ thinks Malta received the VC, even a child knows it was the George Cross! Simon, Dan’s sycophant, thinks the Spitfire in ‘Dunkirk’ went down to ‘Jerusalem’, nooooo! It was ‘Nimrod’ you t**t! Lazy! Listen for the stupidity value of idiots that like the sound of their own voice!
Two guys who love watching a smashing war movie and talking about it.
Wish I could have a pint with them.
These guys are terrific and I can’t believe they don’t have more listeners. You may remember Dan Stewart as Rafe in Blunt Talk. He and Simon take on iconic WWII films from the build up forward with a British point of view. Their banter is hilarious while they highlight the best and worst of this war’s movies. From this pod, I’ve been able to find great films. Subscribe and enjoy!
Listening to Dan and Simon dissect and analyse the Second World War through its cinematic depictions is a joy to behold. A must for anyone who had a grandparent who chucked on The Dirty Dozen to then bemoan how it wasn’t accurate or like how they experienced it, but you stared in wonderment at the ballyhoo carnage unfolding on your flickering screen. Dan and Simon recapture that magic with each ep and cleverly help point out the most stereotypical nazi depiction each time. So sit in your foxhole... more
The guys are so witty and informative in each episode. I was expecting to learn a lot which I have but they are hilarious.
Even dealing with the difficult subjects that arise in the films they find away to make it an easy thing to listen to. Most of these films I may not have the opportunity / patience or stomach to watch myself and this the perfect alternative.
Early days for the show right now but I can’t wait to listen to more episodes in the future.
