  • Is this the best footy podcast?

Probably not, but to be fair the best footy podcast doesn’t exist. If it did I’d be getting paid to listen to myself talk about Carlton.

Enough about me though, this is a really genuine podcast that I love listening to every week.

Damo and Clarky are two of the good guys.

Finals Mailbag | Captaincy Audit (Wildcard Finals)
Q: What should be the biggest deciding factor for captain selections according to Nate?
Nate emphasizes matchups and home-ground advantage as the primary drivers, noting that the best scores often come when players perform well on their home deck, which should guide captain choices.
Finals Mailbag | Recommended (Semi-Finals)
Q: Luke Jackson versus the Cats—should I VC or C based on likely tripled vs doubled scores?
The hosts suggest that if Jackson is expected to post a very high score (e.g., around 180), it can be advantageous to triple him via captaincy, but overall prefer Dunkley if he's in a favorable matchup, since triple-digit scorers remain valuable but calculation shows Jackson could yield higher upside in some cases.
Finals Mailbag | Recommended (Semi-Finals)
Q: Which pods are genuinely good options so I don't get stuck with someone's shit just because I want it to be different?
Discussants suggest looking at under-10% owned players such as Josh Dunkley as a potential pod, plus other low-ownership names like Caleb Sarongs and Hayden Young, while noting the need to balance risk with position requirements.
Hugo Get 'Em! (Round 19) with Em Challis
Q: What is your view on the forward line running this year and whether to pivot to different structures for the run home?
The forward line has been volatile and generally underwhelming this year; it's better to diversify across defense and midfield rather than forcing premium forward selections. Look for consistency and DPP flexibility, and don't overspend on forwards who might underperform as fixtures tighten.
Hugo Get 'Em! (Round 19) with Em Challis
Q: Given Tristan's question about the best replacement for Butters, what are your top picks and why?
Ashcroft is top value due to consistency and favorable run-home matchups; Heaney is a strong alternative with solid fixtures; Ed Richards is worth considering if you need a different defensive/mid flexibility. Neal can be a dark horse option for those looking at a captaincy pivot, but Ashcroft remains the safest top pick.
