  • Terrible reading.

What a pity. I so wanted a podcast of classic tales but the readers are so bad that it’s like sitting in six grade again listening to my poor friends struggle flatly through sentence after sentence in English class.

    Absolutely pointless.

Episode 184 - THIRST: RIVERS AND FOLKLORE
Q: Did that prove to be difficult in terms of the writing versus the pushback from publishers going, you can't do that for kids?
When I do my first draft, I tend to aim to be as dark as I want, balanced with a bit of light and not just darkness for the sake of it.
Episode 184 - THIRST: RIVERS AND FOLKLORE
Q: How do you connect folklore with bigger themes like sacrifice and environmentalism through your book?
The ideas of rivers representing sacrifice and what we tolerate in nature resonate deeply through the stories we tell.
Episode 184 - THIRST: RIVERS AND FOLKLORE
Q: Did you have a big awareness of that kind of aspect when you started plotting this book? Or did that come about through the research?
I had no idea about any of that before. All I knew was that I wanted to try folk horror as a thing.
Episode 184 - THIRST: RIVERS AND FOLKLORE
Q: What prompted you to move with Thirst? And we'll explore the plot of Thirst in just a moment.
I simply decided that horror would be the thing I want to do next, because I just really enjoy reading horror.
Episode 184 - THIRST: RIVERS AND FOLKLORE
Q: Just start us off for people who may not be so familiar with your work and what you do, and tell us a little bit about you and your background and why you are here talking to me today.
I've been published since 2019, and I've got four books out so far for, I kind of write for older children, for teens, a lot of adults read my books too.
