  • Fire!!

I think I used this term correctly, lol. I started listening to this not knowing what to expect. Frankly I’ve just been in so much pain because of my brother’s passing that when a friend recommended this, I wasn’t sure if it would help with my healing. To my surprise, there are so much practical advice to my everyday life as a daughter, mother, friend, teacher and sister. Everyone breathing should be listening to this podcast!

From the Jail Cell to the Pew with John Edwards (Just A Guy in the Pew)
Q: How did your view of masculinity and belonging influence your journey, and what changed that?
I learned that true strength isn't hiding pain or controlling everything; it's choosing vulnerability, relying on God, and building authentic connections with others in a supportive faith community.
From the Jail Cell to the Pew with John Edwards (Just A Guy in the Pew)
Q: Can you describe the moment that shifted your direction away from addiction and toward healing?
The turning point came at a men's conference where I went to confession; I poured out my life, received absolution, and in that grace began to realize I needed more than temporary fixes—community and faithful support.
From the Jail Cell to the Pew with John Edwards (Just A Guy in the Pew) pt 2
Q: What practical steps can a listener take today to begin building a healthier, faith-centered life within their family and parish?
He recommended visiting the ministry website to start a conversation, forming a small group with a structured plan, committing to regular worship and service, and creating spaces for vulnerable discussion that leads to real accountability and spiritual growth.
From the Jail Cell to the Pew with John Edwards (Just A Guy in the Pew) pt 2
Q: For listeners who feel their own struggles are 'smaller' but still significant, how can they overcome fear of judgement and start making progress?
The guest advised not to fall into comparison, to start with honest self-reflection, and to engage in a supportive community. He stressed that ongoing transformation comes from addressing root issues, not just surface symptoms, and that sobriety of heart begins with admission and a willingness to change with the help of others.
