  • Good content horrible sound quality

The content is good but the production quality is soooo bad. Guest microphone quality is inconsistent, volume levels of the speakers are inconsistent and vary throughout the episode. Reuters daily news shows they know how to do sound production, they need to allocate resources here.

  • Probably, the best podcast on global politics and eceonomics

Opposite its many counterparts, The Exchange isn’t overproduced nor does it feel tightly controlled by a large staff of producers. It’s simply in-debt interviews with some of the smartest, most interesting, and well-selected candidates regarding the given subjects.

Listening to The Exchange isn’t pleasant because of smooth crossovers, jingles or trying-to-be smooth ambient music, but, merely, as it contains unparalleled content in a rough and direct manner; conversations between the right inter... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Separating science fiction from fact at SpaceX
Q: How viable is the idea of data centers in space as Elon Musk's compensation incentive?
Becker explains the physical and operational hurdles—heat management, radiation effects, and massive scale requirements—that currently render space-based data centers impractical, suggesting the recurring costs and risks do not justify the claimed benefits or the valuation implied by the IPO.
Separating science fiction from fact at SpaceX
Q: What do you think are the interesting questions for investors on this?
The interviewee outlines a framework: investors should dissect the SpaceX business into its real, quasi-real, and speculative components, assess the true economics and timelines of each, and avoid pricing in highly speculative bets like a million-person Mars settlement without robust evidence of feasibility and adequate financing.
Why the dollar could outlast the United States
Q: Do you think having a global currency is a good thing for a country?
The guest argues that while a strong dollar can complicate exports, a global currency arrangement is not necessarily bad in principle; the real issue is managing sovereignty, governance, and political constraints around such a system, rather than seeking a simple binary of strong versus weak currency.
The Gulf energy crisis and the US-China showdown
Q: What do you discern as the US strategy behind all of this?
The strategy appears to be a mix of pressuring adversaries over energy security, signaling a hard stance to deter rivals, and attempting to shape global energy flows, even as the administration recognizes the limits of military options and the long-term implications for alliances and energy dependence.
How the Strait of Hormuz changes economic warfare
Q: How has the US energy position affected its vulnerability during this crisis?
Even with apparent energy independence, the US remains exposed to global oil and gas price shifts; sanctions easing for Russia and Iran demonstrated the limits of unilateral energy autonomy, underscoring the importance of diversified supply chains and international cooperation.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Big View

What is The Big View about and what kind of topics does it cover?

A brisk, analytically driven show that pulls in senior executives, policymakers, and scholars to probe the forces shaping business and markets. Episodes tend to map global macro trends—monetary regimes, capital markets infrastructure, energy geopolitics, and the evolving tech and AI landscape—through historical context, policy implications, and practical implications for decision-makers. Noteworthy is the convergence of finance, geopolitics, and technology, often with a skeptical eye on how structural shifts will unfold over years rather than quarters. The format favors candid, data-informed conversations and a willingness to challenge conventional wisdom, making it useful for listeners who need clearer signals about what's driving markets ... more
