I grew up in the bus ministry at FBC, came from a non Christian home. I am thankful for this as it’s eye opening, coming from the bus ministry and not in the school or “on the in” you don’t hear or see all that actually happens!!! Very disappointing as I loved FBC and thought no way this stuff could ever happen, but you can’t make this stuff up! People are seeing so much more of this and this can’t continue to be covered up!
I tuned into this pod because I am a deconstructing ex-fundie. I stayed because this dynamic duo were authentic and vulnerable. I identified with so many of the sisters’ stories. Thank you ladies for raising your voices and helping so many of us that survived a high control religion feel validated and empowered!
After listening to episode one, I already feel so seen. Hearing Taniya and Vikki share their experiences leaving the IFB community brought up so many emotions for me in the best and hardest ways. I went to the same school and grew up in a similar Baptist environment, and there are so many long-term effects that people don’t always understand unless they’ve lived it.
It takes so much courage to speak openly about trauma, abuse, and the complexities of deconstructing your faith, and I’m incredibly... more
This first episode of the Ex Baptist Sisters podcast shared life experiences of young girls as part of a very active bus ministry. I had no idea that bus ministries were so far north. They were in Minnesota. I had always heard of bus ministries in relation to Southern Baptist and IFB churches in the south. Very informative.
Wild to hear some of these stories shared out loud. Vikki and Taniya do a great job sharing the chaos of their past while embracing love and empathy and a vision forward. Thank you for sharing your story, excited to hear more!

Two sisters chronicle their exit from an oppressive IFB upbringing, sharing intimate survivor stories alongside practical guidance for healing from purity culture, boundaries, consent, therapy, and healthy relationship-building. Each episode centers on deconstruction, reclaiming body autonomy, and building a supportive community, with candid reflections on childhood conditioning, abuse, and finding a freer path forward. The show balances vulnerable storytelling with concrete resources and steps (books, apps, therapy, mirror work, movement) that listeners can apply as they process trauma and rebuild their lives. A standout aspect is the hosts' blend of warmth, accountability, and actionable insights, making it especially helpful for current ... more
