Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Quantum Risk: The Boardroom’s Blind Spot with Brian Couzens
Q: If a breach caused by broken cryptography happens in the future, who should be held accountable today and why?
Accountability sits with the entire board and leadership across the affected decades because they benefited from digital trust yet failed to own, map, or manage the cryptographic estate, effectively making it a fiduciary obligation rather than a purely IT issue.
Quantum Risk: The Boardroom’s Blind Spot with Brian Couzens
Q: So, what is the most dangerous assumption executives make when they hear post-quantum cryptography?
The most dangerous assumption is that PQC is not their problem and that it will be resolved later by the tech team. In reality, the issue is already here in the data's longevity and in who owns and manages the cryptography; delaying action only increases exposure and risk.
Quantum Risk: The Boardroom’s Blind Spot with Brian Couzens
Q: Brian, you often argue that quantum risk is not a technical problem, but a governance failure waiting to happen. What do most boards still miss and understand about the nature of this risk in your opinion?
Most boards treat PQC as a technical problem when, in fact, the core issue is the cryptographic estate: lacking ownership, accountability, visibility, and a long-term lifecycle. Governance models have failed to assign responsibility for crypto, which means a future breach could be traced to decades of leadership passivity rather than a one-off technological flaw.
Building a Future-Proof Financial System With Maxwell Denega
Q: What does Quantum Chain do differently to make sure that you have that Quantum Resistant Blockchain from day one?
Quantum Chain is designed to be Quantum safe from inception, embedding compliance and security measures deeply into the architecture, prioritizing proprietary technology over open-source solutions.
Building a Future-Proof Financial System With Maxwell Denega
Q: What problem bothered you enough that you decided to start Quantum Chain?
Denga recounts losing $4.5 million to a cryptocurrency incident, which motivated him to develop a system that prevents such vulnerabilities, ensuring users don't face similar terror and loss.
