Amazing podcast. I have a theory that mob spawners were meant to be portable so that ancient builders could use a spawn egg on them to spawn any mob anywhere. But there was a problem. The materials they used to make them just broke when they tried to mine them. But the builders learned from their mistakes and were able to build truly portable spawners.
