Food and food integrity are very passionate topics of conversation in my home so it was incredibly timely to come across this podcast. Not only did they delve deep into topics like nutrition density (who knew!) and regenerative farming (❤️) but they explain these things in a way that's easy to understand and they provide actionable steps you can take to move towards filling your own fridge with more nutrient dense options, and they give tools to dig deeper on your own and learn more. Detox Done Right: Science Over Social Media with Mitch Taylor
Q: Who should consider a detox, and what are the typical considerations and contraindications?
Most people can consider a detox, but it's important to assess liver and renal health, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, active illnesses, and nutritional status. A guided program is recommended over DIY approaches, especially for those with complex medical histories or on medications, to avoid nutrient depletion and adverse interactions.
Detox Done Right: Science Over Social Media with Mitch Taylor
Q: What is detox really about, and how does biotransformation differ from a cleanse?
Detox is best understood as biotransformation, a process the liver uses to transform and eliminate toxins through activation (phase one), conjugation (phase two), and elimination (phase three). Cleanses focus more on what you ingest, whereas biotransformation emphasizes supporting the liver with nutrients to improve its ability to process and remove toxins.
School Cafeterias Could Save a Generation with Natalie Linden of Eat Real
Q: How does Eat Real measure success and sustain improvements in districts?
Through a data-driven certification model that analyzes menus, calories, ingredients, and product formulations, then provides a final assessment and ongoing recertification to ensure improvements stick and scale over time.
School Cafeterias Could Save a Generation with Natalie Linden of Eat Real
Q: Can you explain why it's urgent to improve school food programs in the United States?
The level of diet-related health issues among kids—including rising rates of type 2 diabetes, metabolic risks, and even mental health concerns—along with the sheer scale of school meals as a nationwide program, makes this an upstream opportunity to affect health, learning, and community well-being.
RE-RELEASE: Why Microgreens Should Be Your New Best Friend with Local Leaf Farm
Q: What makes microgreens different in taste and nutrition compared to their mature counterparts?
Microgreens provide concentrated nutrients and a distinct flavor profile per leaf; as they mature, flavors intensify and diversify, but early cotyledon leaves already offer significant nutritional value.
