Stumbled onto this podcast series and have found it both entertaining and informative. It’s great to hear different ideas discussed by veteran modelers, pointing out the pros and cons of various approaches and thereby providing listeners with new insights and perspectives on topics new and old. The participants don’t take themselves too seriously, which makes for some fun and lively conversations. I’ve really enjoyed these podcasts.

But sometimes you guys are condescending to people who:
1. don’t run ops sessions
2. Have continuous running
3. Don’t take the prototype side as serious as you do.
You give lip service to “to each their own” but nothing about it seems sincere. I left with the sentiment if I did’t have a point to point layout with ops session then I wasn’t really in the hobby. I listen to over 20 episodes and it just didn’t get better. Also, I had to skip your opens. Those are painful.
I really enjoy listening to this group discuss their model railroading hobby. The operations information is especially useful as I am just starting to have ops sessions on my model RR. Thanks!
I like how it's the same people every time. I've learned so much from this.

A practitioner-focused discussion about model railroading, with steady emphasis on operations, layout design, and hands-on techniques. Episodes frequently explore how to plan, operate, and theme layouts, balance realism with personal style, and use operations as a storytelling device. A standout trait is the collaborative banter among experienced hobbyists, balanced with practical how-tos, project ideas, and event-oriented coverage that appeals to both prototype and freelance modelers.
Noteworthy aspects include recurring coverage of hands-on clinics, operating weekends, and mentoring within the community, plus clear attention to scale-specific topics (N scale, scratchbuilding, rolling stock, and era fidelity). The format tends to blend th... more
