Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Vanessa Rivera
Q: What are you most excited about creatively right now?
Launching puzzles as a new product line to connect families, plus continuing work on a personal book project; both things represent new ways to share our art and stories with our audience.
Vanessa Rivera
Q: What advice would you give artists struggling to trust their own voice?
Remember who you are as a creative, stay authentic to your own interests, and focus on passion projects that fuel you instead of chasing trending topics; there will always be a supportive audience for genuine work.
Vanessa Rivera
Q: Was there a moment when you realized this is your voice as an artist?
Yes, about three to four years ago, during an abroad trip, when I embraced the storybook vibe and started making real-life moments more magical; I shifted away from surrealism because I wasn't comfortable with that direction and found joy in editing and building my own backgrounds.
Vanessa Rivera
Q: So for someone discovering your work for the first time, how would you describe what you create?
I would describe it as storybook art centered around childhood nostalgia and everyday family life, with a magical and slightly surreal, painterly quality that comes from combining photography with hand-drawn elements.
