  • Why oh why the false narrative of part II

I would like to give you five stars for your educative colloquy on history politics and current events, however I deduct .5 star for Blumenthals to frequent interruptions of Wilentz & guest, acknowledging I’m listening at 1.5x-1.8x speed , but the other speakers often don’t get to continue/ finish their point.

I deducted a full star for “ adjourning the court” midway for what I image is a pay wall scheme or had to do with Apple podcasting administration possibly idk.

    Unfortunately half star ar... more

Have added your podcast to those I listen to frequently. Very much appreciated Sidney recently pointing out that dictator of Russia stands to be major beneficiary if current administration comes to rule over Greenland. Shankar Narayan has been one of very few in media (independent or otherwise) to point out that sea corridor passing from Greenland’s southern border and extending around both Iceland and th UK has always been a critically important strategic barrier to capacity of Russian to th... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Insider Rips the Cover Off Trump's Secret Pardon Industry?!?!
Q: So Jeffrey, how do you get a pardon in Trump's Washington? We all want to know. Yeah. Where do I go?
Toobin explains there is a transactional market around pardons in Washington, where contributions and connections can influence decisions, though outcomes vary and some efforts succeed while others fail.
Trump’s Desperate Self-Pardon Scheme Exposed as He Runs Scared
Q: Is this the equivalent of a self-pardon, and what are the broader legal and political implications?
Toobin argues that the Blanche document functions like a self-pardon in practice by shielding the president and relatives from accountability, with deeper implications for civil liability, executive power, and the balance of powers, while noting the political risk and historical consequences of such moves.
Trump’s Desperate Self-Pardon Scheme Exposed as He Runs Scared
Q: Why focus on the pardon business and explain the two-part deal connected to the $1.8 billion slush fund?
Toobin explains that the agreement goes beyond taxes, constituting an immunity-like provision that potentially bars future investigations or prosecutions of the Trump family for past financial matters, and that this is unprecedented in scope, prompting questions about legality and enforcement.
Supreme Court Slow-Walks Massive Trump Agenda Rulings
Q: What reforms might Congress pursue to address perceived Court shortcomings?
Possible reforms include docket reform to force more cases, ethics and transparency measures like quarterly reports, and budgetary leverage, possibly alongside more structural changes to reinvigorate accountability without destabilizing the Court's functioning.
Supreme Court Slow-Walks Massive Trump Agenda Rulings
Q: What are the most consequential rulings anticipated for the Court in this term?
The panel expects mixed results: a likely ruling against Trump in birthright citizenship, a potential ruling for him in Slaughter, and significant attention on the Fed's independence in Lisa Cook, with broader implications for the unitary executive and administrative state.
