  • Reading from a script doesn’t work !

Listening to the podcast about European group B rally cars was painful . Clearly no knowledge, little fact finding beforehand and the pronunciation of the models was woeful . Clearing reading from a script didn’t help in any way.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

425: From Chrome to Canvas The Automotive Art of Shannon Fannin
Q: Can you share a turning point moment in your career?
The Amelia Island auction/show moment when a Lamborghini Miura commission was secured at the event, accompanied by an all-expenses-paid solo show, marked a turning point, validating my work and signaling that I could pursue major opportunities.
425: From Chrome to Canvas The Automotive Art of Shannon Fannin
Q: What draws you to chrome and reflections, and how do you approach painting them?
Chrome and reflections fascinate me because they distort everything around them; I layer many glazes (20-30 layers) to recreate depth and light, and I consciously distort reflections to trick the brain into perceiving 3D form on a 2D surface.
425: From Chrome to Canvas The Automotive Art of Shannon Fannin
Q: Tell us how you went from marketing to car art and if you've always been a car enthusiast.
I wasn't initially into vehicles, but exposure to cars through my husband and car shows drew me in. A pivotal moment was when I started painting cars as portraits, moving from mural-scale work to automotive subjects, and realizing that the vehicle could tell a story and become a cherished family piece.
424: The Cars, Stories and Characters of Velocity Invitational
Q: What is the best way for folks to find Kindred Motorworks?
The best way to connect is through their website kindredmotorworks.com, with additional opportunities to visit the factory or find them at various events and dealers.
421: Driving the Future of Car Culture with RPM Foundation and Nick Ellis
Q: How does the Endangered Skills Program work and why is it important?
The Endangered Skills Program records the teaching process where a master demonstrates a disappearing skill to an apprentice, preserving both the hands-on technique and the instructional method so that future generations can learn. This aims to prevent the loss of critical restoration capabilities as veteran craftsmen retire.
